Natal Sightseeing Nearby – See More of Beautiful Brazil!
Arriving in Natal, Brazil, you should consider doing some Natal sightseeing on the side as well as visiting Natal and spending time in the city. There are many opportunities outside of the main city to see more of Brazil’s incredibly lush landscape, and there are also several other cities nearby that are worth a visit! Here are a few fantastic Natal sightseeing opportunities you simply don’t want to miss:
- Dune Buggy Tour
- This tour to the sand dunes of Genipabu is 45km away from Natal, and visits some of the most enormous sand dunes in the area. Your tour will last for about 8 hours, and you’ll drive over 100 foot tall dunes in a buggy – going as fast or as slow as you tell your driver to go! The drivers are all highly trained, so you’ll never have to worry about safety. When you’re done at the dunes, relax at the Genipabu lake, where you can slide into the water on suspended cables! There are also opportunities for camel rides, and more than ample photo ops on this unbelievable tour!

- At a small fishing village about 40 miles away from Natal, there are about 28 square miles of coral reef, just waiting to be explored! The tour will leave from Natal and arrive at this village, called Maracajau, and each participant will have lessons on how to snorkel or scuba dive, and then be escorted to this breathtaking reef only 4.5 miles off the coast. This unbelievable reef is just teeming with exotic ocean life, tiny fish, vibrant plant life, and small octopi! After your time in the ocean, there is a Waterpark near Maracajau that all tours stop at for lunch and some splashing fun!
- Pipa’s Ecological Sanctuary
- Around 55 miles away from Natal, sightseeing opportunities await you at the Pipa beach. One of several beaches in the Tibau do Sul area, Pipa has rolling dunes, sweeping red cliffs, and white sand that stretches for miles. The water around the Pipa beach is home to sea turtles and dolphins, and the local government has strived to allow the beach to retain its sense of wild brilliance – possessing a beauty like no other beach for miles around. In the town adjacent to the beach, Pipa offers visitors an Ecological Sanctuary where you can learn about the wildlife of the area and the intricate balance of creatures who dwell in this part of Brazil. There is even a bay area here where the dolphins aren’t shy, and love to come swim with visitors!
- Fortaleza City
- The capital city of the state next to Rio Grande do Norte, Fortaleza is the capital of Ceara and has a vast array of its own attractions! Visit the city on a daytrip from Natal, sightseeing along the way and taking in the vibrant landscape of this neighboring city. The city is known for having incredible nightlife, and has many of northeast Brazil’s best bars and clubs. However, one of the biggest draws to Fortaleza is the city’s kitesurfing and windsurfing opportunities! There are strong prevailing winds on the main beach, Praia do Futuro, making this a great place to visit for some sport surfing during the day and a little nightlife in the evening!
